Legend of the Week #14: The Edgeworth Eagle

The Legend of the past few Weeks is unnamed.

That’s pretty interesting in itself.

Instead, it belongs to one of those ordinary heroes, the sort of people who don’t get recognised, but without them, sporting clubs would be unable to survive.

People like the Edgeworth Eagle.

This brave man, woman or child, every weekend, suits up in the eagle costume, goes straight to the boundary, and becomes one of the most important members of the club.

Getting to the game early, saying hi to the kids who’ve come. Standing on the boundary, cheering on Edgeworth, jeering their opponents.

But in this case, their opponent was none other than Melbourne City striker Aaron Mooy.

Thank you, Eagle. Thank you for making local soccer great.
