Josh Kennedy broke into the Top 100 Goal kickers of all time on the weekend, but only just! His three goals against the Magpies lifted him to equal 100th with former stars Jack Collins (Footscray, now WB) and Ted Johnson (South Melbourne, now Sydney).
Congratulations are also due to Lance Franklin who passed Peter Hudson and Wayne Carey to move to 17th on the list, Nick Riewoldt who passed former Essendon and Fitzroy star Jack Moriarty and is now 24th on the all time list, Steve Johnson who passed Dermot Brereton and Adam Goodes to now sit 64th on the list and Eddie Betts who passed Jason Akermanis and Lou Richards and become the 84th greatest goal kicker of all time.
As far as game players go, three of the top 50 advanced: Matthew Pavlich passed Andrew McLeod to join Chris Grant in equal 15th Position, Corey Enright passed Terry Daniher, Roger Merrett and Tony Shaw into outright 38th position and Nick Del Santo passed Shane Crawford and joined 6 others in 48th position.
At the other end of the scale, Keays (Brisbane), Polkinghorne (Essendon) , Howe (Hawthorn) and Broomhead (Collingwood – 2 goals) all scored their first goal for their club.
Meanwhile, Hanley’s 2 goals for Brisbane gave him 50 career goals.
