Tonight’s game features one team (Richmond) with a strong record of 120 years and another (Port Adelaide) who only joined the AFL in 1997, have only used 160 players in that 20 years and therefore feature 17 players from the club Top 100 in tonight’s match! Richmond – on the other hand – feature only six.
In the League Top 100, only one player tonight features: Richmond’s gun forward, Jack Riewoldt who needs to score 3 goals to chase down Essendon’s Terry Daniher and join him in 64th position on the all time goal kicking list.
In Richmond’s Top 100 game players, notable achievers are: Murray Rance, who will pass Bill Morris on the list, Dustin Martin who will pass Chris Naish and equal Jeff Hogg and Scott Turner, Jack Riewoldt who will pass Barney Herbert, and Shane Edwards who will equal Joe Murdoch and Duncan Kellaway.
Goals wise, one goal will improve Dustin Martin’s and Shane Edwards’ standing.
At Port Adelaide, Robbie Gray will pass Darryl Wakelin and equal Roger James in 19th position on the club’s record game holders list, Matthew Broadbent will pass Matthew Primus and equal Stephen Paxman in 23rd position, Jackson Trengrove will equal Brett Montgomery in 29th position whilst Hamish Hartlett will equal Josh Carr at 31.
One goal to Pittard, Broadbent, Amon, Westoff, Dixon, Trengrove or O’Shea wil see them rise up the list.
Most notable is Justin Westoff who – if he ‘bags’ one – will join Stuart Dew in 3rd position on Port Adelaide’s all time AFL/VFL goal kickers list.
