Round 2 AFL Stats Round Up

Only 7 of the current 11 Top 100 game players in the AFL took the field in Round 2, and for some of those four who missed through injury the enforced holiday was costly:
Nick Riewoldt had shared the honour of being the equal top current game player in the Top 100, but injury enabled the Hawk’s Shane Burgoyne to leave him on 320 games with Dick Reynolds and join “Mr Football” Ted Whitten, Stewart Loewe and Adelaide’s Tyson Edwards in equal 35th position of the AFL Top 100 game players list.
Robert Murphy’s game at the Western Bulldogs took him into a three way tie with Wayne Campbell (Richmond) and Lenny Hayes (St Kilda) in 78th place.
Brendan Goddard drew level with Peter Everitt in 87th place whilst Gary Ablett caught Dean Cox and Bill Hutchinson in 89th place.
The missed game caused by injury to Jarrod McVeigh meant that Luke Hodge joined him at 97th place.
Amongst the current day goal kickers,#2 Nick Riewoldt and #9 Drew Petrie were the only two of the ten current players in the Top 100 not to play.
A reasonable tally of goals amongst the other Top 100 goal kickers, left 5 of the current 10 within 10 goals of the next 100 goal milestone: Lance Franklin (5 for 800) Nick Riewoldt (7 for 700) Steve Johnson (1 for 500) Jarryd Roughead (5 for 500) and Tom Hawkins (6 for 400)
