AFL Stats This Weekend: Scott’s back!

The big news for us stats nuts for this weekend is the appearance of Scott Thompson in Adelaide’s team for the first time in 2017. Scott has been stranded on 307 games all year, and when he takes the field tonight he will pass former bombers champion Tim Watson (now a Channel 7 commentator).
All but three of the 13 current players within the Top 100 game players of all time will play this weekend: Those to miss are: Robert Murphy (Bulldogs), Gary Ablett (Gold Coast Suns – on exactly 300 games) and the newest inductee Steve Johnson (Tied for 100th place).
Of the others, six (including Scott Thompson mention above) will improve their position on the “ladder” of AFL games played:
Shaun Burgoyne will pass David Cloke and Kevin Murray.
Drew Petrie will pass Nick Dal Santo and Simon Black and equal Nathan Burke.
Sam Mitchell will pass Dick Reynolds and equal Ted Whitten, Stewart Loewe and Tyson Edwards.
James Kelly will pass Jimmy Bartel, Shane Crawford and the injured Robert Murphy, and equal Gordon Coverntry, Adam Simpson, David Neitz, Paul Williams and Alastair Lynch.
Three of the current Top 100 AFL Goal Kickers are also missing. Of the remainder (in reverse order) here is the number of goals they need to kick to improve their position in the Top 100:
Mark LeCras (WCE) 1
Jarryd Roughead (Hawthorn) 1
Tom Hawkins 2
Jack Riewoldt 3
Eddie Betts 4
Drew Petrie 4
Nick Riewoldt 13
Lance Franklin 47
